Must read for anyone who wants to understand the first generations of Christians and Christianity after the apostles. Michael Holmes has done us a great service by presenting the texts of the Apostolic Fathers with very illuminating introductions, and by providing excellent translations. I found his critical apparatus embedded in the text very useful indeed.
