I must admit that I am not a fan of strenuous 'cleanses' or 'detox' diets. I've seen many a friend suffer through one, and I just don't want to put myself through that. Adina Niemerow's book, on the other hand, seems pretty reasonable to me. She offers up all manner of cleanses/detox treatments, from a one-day cleanse to several 5-day plans, up to a 5-to-10 day cleanse. Some of the more strenuous 5-day plans are based solely on juices and/or liquids. All stress massive amounts of veggies and fruits, and prefer whole grains. Many of the recipes are based on the Raw food diet (something I never thought I'd try, much less enjoy). There is a number of hearty soups, rice and other recipes in the book. My favorite cleanse is the 5-day 'Laughing Buddha' cleanse, followed by the 'Some Like it Raw' cleanse. Now that I've tried these plans, I find that I yearn for cleaner foods. Anyone who wants to tiptoe into a 'cleanse' or 'detox' program, I think this would be the book for you. It was for me.
